Your goals first

Professionalism, dedication, kindness and compassion guide a treatment plan shaped around you.

A lasting approach to unwanted hair

Electrolysis treats individual hair follicles with a fine probe and a carefully controlled electrical current. It is a permanent hair-removal method and can be considered for hair colors that laser does not effectively target, including blonde, red, gray and white hair.

Your starting point is a conversation about the areas you want to treat, previous hair-removal methods, your skin and your schedule. We will explain what a course of appointments can involve and help you choose a practical starting point.

If you are comparing approaches, our laser hair removal page explains where laser may fit. Some plans use both methods: laser for suitable darker hair across larger areas, followed by electrolysis for remaining hairs.

For general information about electrolysis and other methods, see the American Academy of Dermatology’s hair-removal overview. Your consultation determines how general information applies to your own treatment.

Care that fits your hair and your goals

01

Facial hair

Discuss unwanted hair on the chin, upper lip or other suitable facial areas. Your electrologist will assess the pattern of growth and explain the appointment schedule.

02

Body hair

Plan treatment around the areas that matter to you. The number of hairs and size of the area help determine how much time to reserve.

03

Hormonal hair growth

Electrolysis addresses unwanted hair; it does not treat the underlying cause of hormonal growth. A new or rapid change in hair growth is a reason to speak with your healthcare professional.

04

Gender-affirming care

Our gender-affirming hair-removal service supports facial and body goals, with an individual planning process for surgical preparation.

Experience, technique and thoughtful treatment planning

Modern tools matter. So do a careful consultation, consistent appointments and a team that listens.

Senza Pelo’s existing electrolysis service includes galvanic, thermolysis and blend methods. Our equipment includes Dectro Apilus xCell Pro technology and a Gentronic epilator for multi-needle galvanic treatment. Your electrologist selects an approach around the hair, treatment area and your response.

Founder Maria DeNicola, CCE, CPE, CLS, has built a practice centered on education and compassionate care. Meet the Senza Pelo team to learn about the people behind your appointments.

Comfort needs are individual. Discuss sensitivity before treatment so the team can plan with you. Injectable lidocaine administered by a registered nurse is an existing option for eligible clients and must be arranged in advance; it involves a separate clinical assessment and fee. Ask about availability when booking.

What your electrolysis plan can look like

01

Start with a consultation

Bring your goals, questions, relevant medical history and information about previous hair-removal treatments. We will assess the area and discuss a realistic starting schedule.

02

Build a course of visits

Hair does not all grow at once. Appointments are planned over time, with duration and frequency adjusted to the amount of hair and your progress.

03

Review and adapt

Tell your electrologist how your skin responded and whether your comfort needs or schedule have changed. Follow the individual preparation and aftercare instructions provided.

Prepare with clear, individual instructions

Preparation and aftercare should reflect your skin and the area being treated.

Ask the team how much visible hair growth is needed for your appointment and which removal methods to avoid between visits. Arrive with the treatment area clean and tell your provider about skin irritation, a recent tan, medications and topical products.

Do not stop prescribed medication or combine numbing products on your own. Discuss those choices with the treating clinician before your visit.

Temporary redness, sensitivity or small areas of swelling can occur. Burns, infection, pigment changes and scarring are possible risks. Your provider will explain what to expect and how to care for the area; contact the practice if you have a concerning reaction.

In our client’s words

A relationship spanning decades

I was one of Senza Pelo’s very first electrolysis patients 44 years ago. I had a lot of unwanted facial hair I did with electrolysis. After laser became a thing I continued treatments until the work was complete.

I still don’t shave any of those areas. The hair is simply gone. I’ve seen the results firsthand for decades, and permanent hair removal really can be permanent when it’s done right.

Before your visit

Your questions, answered

Does electrolysis work on blonde, gray or red hair?

Yes. Unlike laser, electrolysis does not rely on pigment in the hair. It can be considered for light, gray, white or red hair as well as darker hair. Your electrologist still assesses the treatment area and your skin.

How many electrolysis appointments will I need?

There is no reliable single number for everyone. The amount and pattern of hair, treatment area, growth cycles and appointment schedule all matter. We will discuss an initial plan and review your progress.

Can I have electrolysis if I have darker skin?

Electrolysis can be used across skin tones. An individual assessment matters because irritation, pigment changes and scarring are possible; discuss your skin history and concerns with the team.

How does electrolysis differ from laser hair removal?

Electrolysis treats hairs individually and can work on hair without dark pigment. Laser targets pigment and can efficiently reduce suitable darker hair over larger areas. A consultation helps determine whether one or both approaches fits your goals.

Does electrolysis hurt, and are comfort options available?

Sensation varies by person, area and treatment. Tell us about your concerns before your appointment. The practice offers comfort planning, including RN-administered lidocaine for eligible clients when arranged in advance.

Can electrolysis help with PCOS-related facial hair?

It can remove unwanted hair, including facial hair associated with PCOS. It does not treat PCOS itself or prevent all future hormone-related growth. Continue medical care for the underlying condition while planning hair removal.

How is electrolysis priced?

The published price list provides rates by appointment duration. Total cost varies with your treatment course. Ask separately about clinical comfort services, longer sessions and current scheduling options.

Can you help with gender-affirming surgical preparation?

Yes, the existing gender-affirming service includes consultation for surgical preparation. Bring your surgeon’s hair-removal diagram and requirements. Your surgeon determines the required treatment area and clearance criteria.
